Beyond the Sail - Amphibious Tours

Accessible coastal adventures - in development

We are developing a purpose-designed amphibious vessel to make coastal experiences easier to access for more people.

Our vision is to make it easier for more people, including elderly guests and people with limited mobility, to access beaches and special places.

This project is being developed with guest comfort, safety, and low-impact tourism in mind.

Why we’re building this

This isn’t for us. It’s for you.

If mobility is a barrier, we want to design with you, not around you.

If there are beaches or special places you’d love to access more easily, click Share an Idea and tell us where you’d want to go and what would make it possible.

A purpose-designed amphibious vessel will be acquired and fitted out to offer accessible marine tourism experiences, including reef tours, stargazing, and low-impact marine activities. *

Pilgrim Sailing is excited to announce that we are the proud recipient of a Queensland Government grant, which will be used to build and fit out a purpose-designed amphibious vessel so we can offer accessible marine tourism experiences.

This funding supports Queensland’s Destination 2045 vision, which is focused on building the kind of visitor experiences and infrastructure that help tourism grow in a way that is sustainable, high-quality, and good for local communities over the long term.

For over five years, Paul has been dreaming about an amphibious boat. Now it can become a reality. And no, it’s not an Aquaduck. It’s far cooler.

A big thank you to the Queensland Government for the grant support helping bring this project to life.

We’ll share confirmed updates as design, approvals, and build progress are locked in.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • An amphibious vessel is a boat designed to operate on both water and land. It can travel like a normal boat on the water, and then use a built-in land system (often retractable wheels) to move onto and off a beach or shoreline. his helps access locations that do not have a jetty or ramp, so guests can embark or disembark without needing to wade through water or manage unstable swell.

  • Expected launch is mid 2027. However timing will depend on design approvals and build progress.

  • Not yet. Please register for updates and we will let you know when bookings are open.

  • Accessibility is a core goal of the project. We will share confirmed details as they are finalised.

  • Reef touring, stargazing, and low-impact marine activities are part of the intended direction, but nothing is locked in. Details will be confirmed closer to launch. Share an idea here.
