What to Expect

Your Private Day Charter begins at the Magnetic Island Marina in Nelly Bay. One of our friendly crew will meet you on the Peppers Blue on Blue deck and show you over to Pilgrim, our stunning 58-foot sailing yacht. She’s classic, elegant, and purpose-built for relaxing days on the water.

After a warm welcome and a full safety briefing, it’s time to cast off, hoist the sails, and let the sea breeze lead the way. Depending on your chosen start time, your charter may run as a relaxed daytime sail or extend into the afternoon, finishing in the softer light of sunset.

We’ll sail for around an hour along the breathtaking Magnetic Island coastline, giving you plenty of time to take in the views, soak up the salty air, and maybe even spot some local wildlife.

Once we find the perfect bay—usually Arthur, Florence or Radical Bay—we’ll drop anchor and stay for a couple of hours. The exact location depends on the day’s weather and winds, but all offer calm, clear waters and a relaxed, tropical vibe. Keep an eye out for sea turtles gliding past, colourful fish darting below the surface, or majestic sea eagles soaring overhead. The island’s fringing reef teems with marine life, and its granite headlands are a haven for birdlife.

Time At Anchor

Once anchored, the pace softens. You’ll have time to enjoy the bay before lunch is served.

You might choose to:

  • Relax on the beanbags in the sun

  • Swim in the clear water

  • Drift on the inflatable mat with a drink in hand

  • Take the dinghy ashore to explore the beach

  • Bring your own snorkelling gear and explore the fringing reef if conditions allow

There’s no set agenda — just time to enjoy the moment.

A Delicious Local Lunch

Lunch is served once everyone has settled in. It’s a generous, shared platter prepared with care by Clare and the crew, featuring locally caught prawns, artisan cheeses, fresh accompaniments, and seasonal flavours from North Queensland.

Dietary requirements are easily accommodated when advised at the time of booking.

Enjoy lunch with a glass of organic wine, a local beer, or a refreshing non-alcoholic drink.

The Sail Home

After lunch, we’ll lift anchor and enjoy an easy sail back to the marina — or, on Day to Dusk charters, take our time returning as the light softens and the island settles into evening.

It’s a gentle close to the day — time to take a few photos, enjoy the breeze, or simply sit back and let the island drift by.

    • Meet the crew at the Peppers Blue on Blue deck and board Pilgrim

    • Sail along the Magnetic Island coastline (approximately 1 hour)

    • Anchor in a sheltered bay to swim, explore by dinghy, or relax on the floating mat

    • Time at anchor to enjoy the bay (approximately 2 hours on the four-hour charter)

    • Lunch served on board during time at anchor

    • Easy sail back to Nelly Bay along the coast (approximately 1 hour)

    Charter variations:

    • Four Hour Charter: includes around 2 hours at anchor

    • Five Hour Charter: includes additional time at anchor to slow the day down

    • Day to Dusk Charter: follows the four-hour itinerary, with the return sail taking place later in the day and finishing at sunset

    • The five hour charter starts at 9.15 am

    • The four hour charter starts at 10.15 am

    • The day to dusk start time varies throughout the year as the sunset time changes. Check the calendar for the start time on your chosen date.

  • Four-Hour Charter (10.15 am start)

    • Up to 10 Guests: $2,290

    Plus any additional adult: $229 pp and any additional child (ages 1-14): $149pp


    The Five-Hour Charter (9.15 am start)

    • Up to 10 Guests: $2,790

    • Plus any additional adult: $279 pp and any additional child (ages 1-14): $149pp

    The Day-to-Dusk Charter (afternoon start)

    • Up to 10 Guests: $2,890

    • Plus any additional adult: $279 pp and any additional child (ages 1-14): $149pp

    • Infants under one: FOC

    • All prices include the environmental management charge of $8.00 per person

    • For larger group bookings (16 guests or more), please contact us directly to arrange. A 10% discount is applicable on larger bookings.

    • If you are travelling from Townsville, our charter times are aligned to the SeaLink ferry timetable and we can package in the ferry tickets to make the transfer from Townsville seamless.

    • Add the ferry tickets as an extra when booking and your tickets will be available for collection at the SeaLink ferry terminal before boarding the ferry.

    • Magnetic Island: Peppers Blue on Blue Resort, Nelly Bay - on the deck outside the Boardwalk Restaurant.

    • Ex-Townsville: Please catch the Sealink ferry from the Breakwater Terminal and then head to the meeting point at Peppers Blue on Blue Resort. Your ferry tickets will be emailed to you a few hours before the cruise.

  • Alongside our classic private day charter inclusions, a small range of enhancements and tailored additions can be arranged in advance to suit your group and the style of day you’re planning.
