We were craving something equal parts relaxed, beautiful and effortless—and Pilgrim ticked every box.

As founders, we didn’t want to be the “event organisers” that day. We wanted to unwind too.

Pilgrim’s day charter made it feel like a private island holiday, minus the logistics. Ferry tickets handled. Gourmet food and premium beverages sorted. All we had to do was show up with beach bags. That first sail felt like a gift to ourselves and the team.

Honestly, it couldn’t be easier. The option to purchase return ferry tickets during booking is a game changer. Everyone just meets at the terminal and that’s it. It takes more effort to organise an Uber to dinner in the city than it does to board the ferry.

And once you step on Pilgrim, the team and the island does the rest—it’s magnetic for a reason. Every time we go, we say the same thing: “Why don’t we do this more often?”

Relaxed, golden, and a bit cheeky. It’s like someone bottled the feeling of Friday knock-off drinks, poured it into a champagne flute, and handed it to you on the deck of a sailing yacht in the Great Barrier Reef.

There’s one moment we always come back to. We’d just anchored near one of the island’s quiet coves, jumped off the side into the Coral Sea, and the crew passed our drinks down to us while we floated on a mat tied to the boat. It was like the ultimate North Queensland pub experience—no shoes, no stress, just turquoise water, great wine and better company. Everyone still talks about it.

Because it works. And because every year somehow feels a little different with new stories, new swims, same perfect vibe.

As a creative team, we value originality, but when something consistently delivers joy with zero hassle, we’re happy to make it tradition.
