NUMBERS ON BOARD
How many guests can we bring?
Pilgrim is licensed for 24 guests, however we recommend up to 18 guests on board to ensure everyone has plenty of space, especially on slightly windier days when the front of the boat may get some sea-spray.
How do I book larger groups, online booking only shows up to 16 spots?
Please contact us directly to discuss your large group booking, there is a 10% discount for groups of 16 or more.
What if I have less than ten guests?
No problem! We just have a minimum charge which equates to 10 guests, so if you have less and are booking online. Select 10 guests and then enter the number of guests you actually have in the special requirements.
What if I don't have the final numbers yet?
That's fine too! Book for your best estimate and then once you have finalised numbers, ideally two weeks before, which is when final payment is due, just let us know and we'll update your booking. If two weeks out you still don't know, then let us know your best estimate and make payment on that number and then if it changes nearer the time, let us know and we'll sort out the difference then.
MAKING A BOOKING
How do I make a booking?
You can book in online or contact us via email or phone with all the details. If out of hours please use online booking.
When do I have to pay?
To secure a date we request a 25% deposit, with full payment due two weeks in advance. You will receive a reminder email. If you are booking within two weeks of the experience full payment is due at the time of booking.
CHILDREN
Is the boat suitable for children?
Yes, definitely. Pilgrim is large and stable with two deep cockpits, which are safe and most kids love being on board.
What is your child policy?
Our child prices apply to children from 1 to 14 years, inclusive on our day charters. Infants are FOC.
I have a baby, is there somewhere from him/her to sleep?
Yes, we have had heaps of babies sleeping on one of the beds on board. It's safe and close by to the skipper so we can keep an ear/eye out on your little one at all times.
ELDERLY AND GUESTS WITH DISABILITIES
Is the boat suitable for the elderly or people with difficulty walking?
If they can walk up a couple of stairs with assistance, then yes and we can make them very comfortable on board. Check out our accessibility information for more details.
FOOD & DRINK
Can I bring my own food?
We strongly recommend against it. Our charters are all about relaxation and enjoying the day. Our crew will do everything for you while you're on board, prep your lunch, pour your drinks etc. If you BYO, that takes away from the experience as you'll be prepping before you leave home, lugging bags and eskies to the boat and then having to wash it up and put it away when you get home. If you still want to BYO after hearing all that, please contact us directly to discuss.
Can I bring my own drinks?
Again we recommend making use of our complimentary bar with premium beverages. However if you don't drink wine or beer and wish to bring your own pre-mix drinks, you are welcome to bring a few with you. When you board the vessel please hand them to the crew who will keep them chilled for you and serve along with the other drinks. NO SPIRITS, RED WINE OR LARGE ESKIES PLEASE!
Can special dietary requirements be accommodated?
Yes, in the majority of cases, although notice is required and there may be a small surcharge. Please contact us to discuss your needs.
Do you have drinking water on board?
Yes. We have sparkling and still water available onboard, however, if you wish to bring a reusable water bottle, we can refill this for you with filtered water.
Please note we are trying to reduce our impact on the environment and would appreciate it if you didn't bring single-use plastic bottles on board.
THE BOAT
Is there a toilet onboard?
Yes, down below, we have one toilet for your use.
Is there any shade on the boat?
There is an awning on board which we will put out when we are at anchor. However, we cannot use the awning when we are sailing; generally, there are some areas of shade created from the sails.
GENERAL ADMIN
Is snorkelling equipment included?
No, we are not a snorkelling tour but when the weather suits, you may be able to snorkel. Please bring your own snorkelling gear if you wish to snorkel.
Do I need to wear a stinger suit or wet suit?
Certain times of the year in North Queensland are stinger season (usually between late October – April/May). At this time of the year, you must wear one of the stinger suits provided.
Do you pick up from Townsville?
We generally don't pick up from Townsville, as takes over 1.5 hours to sail from Townsville to Magnetic Island once we have picked you up. We believe this "commute" takes up too much of your precious time onboard rather than spending it cruising the waters surrounding Magnetic Island.
We can package in the ferry tickets for you to get to Magnetic Island in 20 minutes with Sealink and we are located 2 minutes walk from the ferry terminal.

THE EXPERIENCE
Your Private Charter begins at Magnetic Island Marina, Nelly Bay*. One of the crew will meet you on the Pepper's Blue on Blue deck and show you to Pilgrim, the beautiful 58-foot sailing yacht.
After a full briefing to ensure everyone feels comfortable and safe, we'll have a chat to find out what you are looking for from the day, then head out of the marina and pull up sails and go sailing. We'll sail for about an hour before dropping anchor in one of the bays. Generally, we'll stop in Arthur Bay, Florence Bay or Radical Bay for a couple of hours.
If you are interested in sailing, the crew love to get you pulling ropes or steering and are very happy to teach you a bit too. Alternatively, if you want to just kick back and relax you will have no problem switching off from the real world for a while.
Once at anchor, you'll have time to relax before you enjoy your lunch. You can chill out on the beanbags, explore the beach, have a swim or relax on the giant inflatable mat with a glass of vino in hand!
If the wind permits and we can anchor in Arthur or Florence Bay, you'll have the opportunity to snorkel and check out the fringing reef and colourful fish (note: snorkelling is weather dependent and we do not supply snorkel sets nor fins, please bring your own.)
Lunch is served on board and is a sensational grazing platter with local prawns and antipasto served with freshly baked baguette and more. If you or any of your guests have dietary requirements, please advise at the time of booking and we will adjust the platter accordingly. Click here to discover more about "What's On The Platter!"
After lunch, we'll pull up the anchor and set sail back to the marina, immersing ourselves in the breathtaking scenery of Magnetic Island along the way. Alternatively, you can seize the moment to close your eyes and drift away, letting the gentle breeze caress your face as we sail.
* If you are travelling from Townsville, our charter times are aligned to the Sealink ferry timetable and we can package in the ferry tickets to make the transfer from Townsville seamless.
