A luxury classic 58 foot sailing yacht is the perfect backdrop for a unique photoshoot, whether you're promoting a swimwear brand, leisure clothing or regional food or wine, the list is endless.

Over the years we've done a range of different shoots on board, both on Sydney Harbour and in recent years on Magnetic Island. Our most recent are Bask Eyewear and Ghanda Clothing, and we've shared a few of the images from these below . Our experience goes a little deeper as our skipper (& owner of Pilgrim Sailing), Paul, was a photographer in a previous life, so he can talk your language and make sure that you're getting the best of Magnetic Island for your project.

LOCATION
Magnetic Island is situated 20 minutes off Townsville on the Far North Queensland coast and is accessible by both a car and passenger ferry with regular services throughout the day.
Magnetic Island has 23 bays and beaches, each with its own personality, so you'll be sure to find the right backdrop for your shoot. We are happy to discuss and make recommendations based on your "mood board".
The Townsville area has a tropical climate but, due to its geographical location, rainfall is not as high as elsewhere in the tropics (Source: Bureau of Meteorology) and with 320 days of sunshine a year, you're giving yourself the best chance of avoiding weather issues while shooting.

RADICAL BAY and other BEACHES
Radical Bay is a popular spot with large striking granite boulders and charismatic palm trees. As it is only accessible by boat or a 45 minute hike, it's not unusual to have the whole beach to yourselves. The images below are all examples of photo shoots at Radical Bay.
Other recommended settings include Florence Bay, Arthur Bay and Five Beach Bay. West Point or Cockle Bay also offer something unique.
By road you can access Picnic Bay, Nelly Bay, Alma Bay, Geoffrey Bay and Horseshoe Bay, noting that these beaches will be busier unless you visit first thing in the morning or in the late afternoon.

As each shoot is unique we will provide a quote for each project, however below shows indicative pricing:
Hire of Pilgrim: From $500 per hour
Minimum hire: 2 hours | Maximum 15 persons on board
Suggested duration:
2 hours - on board filming only
3 hours - on board and filming on location (e.g. Arthur Bay)
4 hours - on board and filming on location (e.g. Radical Bay)
Hire of Fast Boat: From $150 per hour
Minimum hire: 3 hours | Maximum 4 persons on board
** Surcharges apply for Friday, Saturday and Sundays **

We know budget can be tight. If you have a fixed amount in mind, then let us know what we have to work with and we'll try and put a proposal forward that you can afford.

We work with a range of professional photographers and can arrange one to suit your project who will understand the conditions, location and lighting of the region.
Catering
On board Pilgrim we offer complimentary chilled still and sparkling water, tea & coffee as standard.
We can also arrange platters to suit your taste. E.g. Fresh fruit platter, Antipasto platter, Sandwiches platter.
All produce is served on board is quality and locally sourced. Vegan, gluten free & vegetarian options are available.
Car Hire
Whether you are looking for a seven-seater to transport the crew and equipment around the Island or a funky Topless Car, a classy convertible mini or a hot pink open-top Jeep to compliment your shoot, we can add this into the package for you on request.
Accommodation
There is a range of accommodation on Magnetic Island to suit all budgets and we'd be happy to arrange as part of your package, if required.
